Russian Style. From Historicism to Art Nouveau
#2
In the exposition space of the museum’s central halls there is an exposition that reveals the formation and development of the Russian style in decorative and applied art from the period of historicism in the 1830-1870s to the neo-Russian style — the verge of Russian Art Nouveau (1880s — 1900s). The exposition includes works of wood, metal, glass, ceramics, interior items, graphics (drawings, sketches), samples of fabrics, costumes, woodblocks, toys, which represent the evolution of the development of the Russian style from citing techniques and motives of folk and ancient Russian art to creative reflection of the visual language and ornamental forms of folk and ancient Russian art by Viktor Vasnetsov, Elena Polenova, Alexander Golovin, Sergei Malyutin, Nicholas Roerich.
